FAQs

Can I get Virgin Media coverage in my area?

Most of the UK is now covered by Virgin Media, whether that's their broadband, 4G & 5G mobile signal, or both. If you aren't sure how good the signal is in your area, you can find out by using the brand's dedicated coverage tracker, which can be found on their website. Simply enter your postcode to be provided with a summary of the signal strength in your neighbourhood.

What kind of delivery options does Virgin Media offer?

Virgin tends to deliver broadband routers, TV boxes and QuickStart packs to your home free of charge within 3 to 4 working days of your purchase. Most parcels are shipped via Yodel.

You should be sent any tracking links in your order confirmation email once you placed your order, but you can also monitor your order status by signing in to your account either through your browser or the dedicated Virgin Media app, then navigating to your orders.

What is Volt?

Volt is the benefits program that lets Virgin Media customers get perks as thanks for their custom. Perks include broadband speed boosts, discounts on new plans and devices, double data allowances, minimum WiFi guarantees (30Mbps in every room or you'll be sent three signal-boosting pods at no charge), and global roaming. These benefits are also available to O2 mobile customers.

What is the Virgin Media returns and cancellation policy?

All plans come with a 14-day cooling-off period, entitling you to cancel a plan before this time is up if you decide it's not for you. If you do cancel, you'll have 14 days from this date to return any hardware the network has sent you, which you can do via the prepaid shipping package sent in the post.

Virgin Media Saving tips

Watch for seasonal promotions

Like many providers, Virgin Media regularly offers deals on selected plans and purchases. These are usually time-limited, and promotions tend to coincide with big retail events such as Black Friday. We also see a wide range of new sign-up offers, which can save you significant sums when starting with the provider.

Look for bundle deals

Virgin regularly offers bundle deals on multiple products designed to offer a discount versus the price of buying two products or plans separately. For example, you'll commonly see broadband and phone bundles, which work out cheaper than buying one separate plan for each. Bundles can save you as much as 20% on original prices.

Get a student discount

If you can verify your status as a student, you can also make the most of Virgin Media' student deals, which waive setup fees - potentially saving you as much as £35 when you get started - and are offered on a 12-month basis that will help you get the best value for money plan for your student accommodation without it dragging on after that year's contract is up.

These deals are also tailored to larger households, with limits designed to cover a number of devices at any one time. Just head to the dedicated student deals page on the brand's site and choose from the M125, M500 or Gig1 plan to get started.

Earn cashback

You can also earn cashback through the Virgin Media store. How much you earn in cashback will depend on what you're buying and the specific cashback deal. We've previously seen these as high as 10% of the price of selected devices, which can stack up on high-ticket items such as the latest handsets.

Refer a friend

You can earn additional cashback rewards by referring friends to Virgin Media. Visit the dedicated referral page and provide your email address to receive a unique referral link. Then, send this link to your friends and family. Whenever they make a purchase through your referral link, both you and your friend will receive cashback rewards worth up to £50, depending on what they've purchased.

How we source voucher codes

At TechRadar, we have a number of tools at our disposal to help us find the latest voucher codes. Our Vouchers team uses connections with big name brands, our affiliate networks, and the world wide web to source the latest & best codes for our pages. Each page is updated multiple times a week with sales info, exclusive codes negotiated by our Commercial team, and a number of ways to save on your next online order.

How we test voucher codes

Every code listed on TechRadar is tested before it’s added to our pages by our Vouchers team. We include a range of offers including student discounts, sale prices, free shipping, & more across a number of categories of products & services. Each code is checked to ensure it is accepted at the checkout, and you won’t find any one-time use or user-specific codes.

The expiry date and any terms & conditions of each code are also displayed on the page, next to or below the ‘Get Code’ button, for added clarity. Click the text that reads ‘Terms & Conditions’ to expand the corresponding area, where you can read more about any requirements your order will need to meet in order for your chosen coupon to be accepted.

What to do if a voucher code doesn’t work

We take the utmost care to verify every code before it’s uploaded, and include as much relevant information as we can find to make using our codes as straightforward as possible. However, sometimes codes expire or are amended before we’re able to refresh our pages, and codes may not work as intended.

Should you experience any issues, it’s always best to start by checking the terms & conditions on the page. Click “View terms and conditions” and the code area will expand. You’ll see all applicable criteria listed in this area. For example, you may not meet a required minimum spend (i.e. spend £20 or more); you may not have enough times in your basket (e.g. you have only selected 2 products when trying to redeem a 3 for 2 multibuy offer), or your chosen offer may only apply to a certain type of product (i.e. 10% off laptops).

If issues persist once you’ve checked that you’ve met any necessary requirements, you can get in touch with our support team by emailing coupons.techradar@futurenet.com. Please provide as much detail about your issue as possible - including which code you used and where you found it - and we’ll be in touch to provide support as soon as we can.

How we make money

All the money TechRadar makes through its voucher pages is earned through a commission-based model. We have deals in place with every retailer that has a voucher page on our site, and every time someone makes a purchase using one of our codes, we earn a percentage of the total basket value back in commission.

Thanks to this model, we can offer all of our codes & discounts completely free of charge. You’ll never be asked to pay a fee to redeem an offer on our site - all you’ll pay is the discounted price of the products or services you’ve chosen to buy.

If you want to find out more about TechRadar’s voucher pages, you can visit our dedicated page on How We Source Voucher Codes and How to Use Them for more information.
