What you eat primarily influences how you behave. It is oblivious to many that foods do have an effect on the mental health and well being of an individual.
A viral post on Instagram has claimed that there are 5 foods that make an individual anxious.
From fruit juice to coffee, these are the foods we consume on a regular basis but with little knowledge that they can ruin the day.
Fruit juice
"The fiber in the whole fruit fills you up and slows down how your blood takes in energy. Without that fiber, you are drinking nutritious sugar water that quickly hypes you up, and brings you down just as fast," explains the post on why fruit juice is as energy draining as it gives energy.
Toast
"Wait, toast?! If it's made from white bread, yes. The highly processed white flour it's made from quickly turns to blood sugar after you eat it. That can cause energy spikes and crashes that can be bad for anxiety," it says on one of the most eaten breakfasts in the world.
Coffee
If you are someone who gulps down coffee under the assumption that it gives you “mental” energy, you need to read this.
"If you are not used to it, the caffeine in coffee can make you nervous. It could also mess up your sleep. Neither helps anxiety or depression. If you think it causes you problems, cut caffeine out of your diet slowly," the post says.
Frosting
Do you love frosting? You might be, everyone likes it.
"It's the sugar, right? Well, yes, but that's not all. It's also loaded with around 2 grams of "trans fats" per serving. They are linked to anxiety. They are also in fried foods, pizza dough, cookies and crackers," it adds.
Ketchup
How much do we love coating our fries with ketchup? But ketchups are mood ruiners, this post claims.
"It's mostly tomatoes, right? Well, yes, and sugar, lots of sugar. Four grams per tablespoon, to be exact. And the "light" stuff may have artificial sweeteners that could be linked to anxiety and depression," it says.
