BENGALURU: A special court for Prevention of Corruption Act in the city on Friday granted bail to former AIADMK secretary VK Sasikala and her close associate J Ilavarasi booked in a corruption case reported during their prison days in Bengaluru.
Sleuths from the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) had chargesheeted Sasikala, Ilavarasi, then chief superintendent of Central Prison Krishna Kumar, superintendent of police (prisons) R Anita and prison officials Suresh and Gajaraj for illegally providing VIP facilities to Sasikala and Ilavarasi between February 2017 and January 2021.
In July 2017, then DIG (prisons) D Roopa accused DGP (prisons) Satyanarayana Rao and others of accepting bribe from Sasikala and Ilavarasi to provide special facilities.
