Greater Manchester Police have now authorised a section 60 order across Brinnington, running from 11am on Monday for 24 hours. It gives officers the powers to stop and search individuals within the specified area. Police patrols will also be increased across the area.
Detective Superintendent Helen Critchley, from GMP’s Stockport district, said: “Our number one priority is keeping the public safe and we believe this section 60 authority is proportionate and necessary following the incidents over the weekend. We have put extra patrols in place and we are utilising all lines of enquiry to ensure that we fully investigate the reports we received.”
