Cristiano Ronaldo is a free agent. The Portuguese superstar has left Manchester United by mutual agreement, terminating his contract with the club on Tuesday.
Ronaldo delivered a critical interview with Piers Morgan last week, during which he gave his views on all aspects of life at Old Trafford, even going as far as to say he had "no respect" for new manager Erik ten Hag. United were tipped to terminate his contract in the aftermath of the interview and that has turned out to be what has happened with the two parties parting ways.
Attention will now turn to where Ronaldo ends up next, with plenty of clubs rumoured to be interested in the 38-year-old. Chelsea have long been linked with a move, with Todd Boehly meeting his agent Jorge Mendes in the summer over a potential move that never came to fruition.

Then boss Thomas Tuchel turned down the opportunity to sign him and it is thought that new head coach Graham Potter would also turn down a move to sign the frontman.
Sporting CP have been mooted as a destination too, with Ronaldo keen to return to his homeland before he retires. Plenty of pundits have had their say on the situation, with Rio Ferdinand suggesting it was the right thing for everyone.
Speaking live on BBC's World Cup coverage, the former Manchester United man said: "I think both parties will be delighted now. He has obviously done that interview with the mindset that he wanted to get out of the club. He wasn’t happy and made it very clear.
"Erik ten Hag has got what he wanted as well in this situation. So both parties are happy, so move on and the next chapter for Cristiano Ronaldo."
Former Manchester City captain and current Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was also part of the BBC punditry team for the game between France and Australia on Tuesday evening. And Gary Lineker jokingly asked if Ronaldo could do a job at Turf Moor.
Kompany delivered a brutal response. "We need players who can run, you know," he stated with a laugh.
Lineker then responded with: "He can't even get in the Burnley team? I'm not having that, not having that."
