Vikings 90-man roster player profile: LT Christian Darrisaw

Welcome to the beginning of our 2023 season preview content!

Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at each player on the roster in-depth with backgrounds and how they currently project forward on the Minnesota Vikings roster.

What is the best-case scenario? What is the worst-case scenario? What should we expect from them during the preseason and beyond? We will break all of that down here.

As a staff, all of us at Vikings Wire ranked the entire 90-man roster 1-90 and will be releasing player profiles in reverse order.

Best case scenario

Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

Darrisaw continues to prove the Trent Williams comparisons correct and takes a huge step forward.

In his second season, Darrisaw showed flashes of being a dominant left tackle. He allowed only 23 pressures in 2022 and there are numerous highlights of Darrisaw burying defenders into the ground. That trend is bound to continue into 2023, as Darrisaw is only projecting up.

Worst case scenario

Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Concussions spoil his growth.

Darrisaw suffered concussions in back-to-back games which ended up being a span of eight days. That’s a rough time for any player. After you suffer the first concussion the second one is that much easier to get. If he gets another concussion, that could be a major issue for him down the line.

Darrisaw is growing into one of the best tackles in the NFL. He has athleticism, power, quickness and a nasty streak. All of those sound a lot like Williams, who Darrisaw was compared to last offseason. He is on a lot more radars this year in comparison to last, which will help his ascent into the pantheon of great tackles.
