civiVIJAYAWADA: Officials of the marketing department have decided to shift stalls at Swaraj Maidan rythu bazaar to four locations in city. The construction of rythu bazaars at Samba Murthy Road, Krishna Lanka Fire Station Road, G S Raju Road and APIIC Colony Autonagar is almost complete and marketing officials are making arrangements for their inauguration in first week of July. Swaraj Maidan rythu bazaar is the largest market in the state. A total of 640 stalls functioned at the original location. The market was demolished to construct the Ambedkar Memorial in 2019. Stalls were shifted to three makeshift markets at PB Siddhartha Degree College, Satavahana College and Krishna Lanka.
However, the public and stall owners are facing problems at the makeshift vegetable markets due to inclement weather. The grounds at PB Siddhartha College have been inundated following the rains and farmers are setting up stalls on the main road nearby.
