Video reveals what Katie Taylor was told after fifth round of Serrano fight

On Saturday night, Katie Taylor cemented herself as one of Ireland's greatest ever sportspeople when she defeated Amanda Serrano by split decision in a fight that many consider to be one of the greatest of all time.

Things could have turned out much differently however, if Serrano had been able to knock Taylor down during the fifth round.

In newly released footage, Taylor's corner gave her vital instructions that helped her bounce back in the sixth round.

"We need you to stand in front of her," said Taylor's trainer Ross Enamait.

"Listen, if we're gonna sit and bang with her, we'll touch her two or three times and I don't care if you gotta grab her or hold onto her"

Enamait continues,"You don't wanna sit inside on the ropes that's the only s**t she's got."

"She wants to sit and fight you like a heavy-bag you understand me?"

"We gotta work back to the centre of the ring Katie. Tie her up and get your second wind."

Enamait's instructions clearly worked wonders as from that point on, Taylor went back to her gameplan, moved around the ring and picked her shots more carefully. This paid dividends on the judges scorecards, as all the judges agreed that Taylor won the final three rounds.

Katie's immediate reaction to the results being announced are also featured in the video. In an uncharacteristic outpouring of emotion, Taylor can be seen screaming with delight and urging the crowd to make more noise.

Jake Paul 's response to the result is also captured. While the controversial Youtuber/boxer immediately demanded a rematch, he was quick to mention that he had just seen one of the best fights ever, a sentiment that Eddie Hearn echoed.

"It's one of the best fights I've ever seen," said Hearn.

"We said it was the biggest female fight of all time, I said it was one of the biggest fights of all time"

"But, it was one of the best fights of all time."

And in a heartwarming moment, Katie can be seen embracing with her mother in the ring.

Backstage after the fight, Taylor can be seen beaming, laughing and cracking jokes. When Laila Ali, daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali, enters the room to a round of applause, Taylor quips "You got a bigger clap than me."

Ali wasn't the only star to visit Katie after the fight. Former interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia paid his respects after the fight. And in typical Katie Taylor style, she preferred to ask Garcia about his upcoming fight rather than talk about her own accomplishments.

Never change Katie, never change.
