In front of a passionate crowd at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, Islam Makhachev defended his UFC lightweight title against UFC featherweight king and beloved Australian Alexander Volkanovski in a closely contested unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 284.
As expected, most local fans were disappointed their countryman, Volkanovski, didn’t have his hand raised. And that included Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker, among others, who were gutted to see their friend and teammate come up short on the judges’ scorecards.
