Video: Is Sean O’Malley resigned to take a backseat on UFC career trajectory?

What’s up with Sean O'Malley at press conferences?

When given the stage, typically the biggest stars shine when the spotlight is on them at these events which are an opportunity to connect with fans outside of the cage. However, besides showing up in an eccentric outfit, O’Malley doesn’t seem to deliver on the microphone at press conferences.

Prior to the UFC 296 ceremonial weigh-ins, the promotion hosted a seasonal press conference to hype up the Q1 2024 pay-per-view main events. O’Malley will be taking on Marlon Vera in the UFC 299 main event.

It wasn’t that O’Malley was bad, but there wasn’t anything truly memorable from him, and it’s not the first time that has happened. Sure, he’s more of a laid-back type of character who connects with his fanbase in other ways, but superstars typically make an impact at these press conferences.

O’Malley was projected to be the UFC’s next big thing, and he’s certainly become successful by winning a title, but is he leaving some meat on the bone here?

That’s what our “Spinning Back Clique” of Mike Bohn, Danny Segura, and Brian “Goze” Garcia discussed along with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.

Check out their discussion in the video above, and don’t miss the most recent full episode of “Spinning Back Clique” below on YouTube or in podcast form.
