Video: Air Traffic Controller suggests fitting baby name after woman gives birth on flight

Listen as an Air Traffic Controller suggests a fitting name for a baby born mid-flight as the plane approached John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

On Saturday (4 April), Caribbean Airlines Flight 005 was on its final approach from Kingston, Jamaica to the New York airport when a mother went into labour.

In ATC recordings, the pilot can be heard telling the controller at JFK that a passenger had just given birth and they required medical assistance at the gate.

A controller then joked with the pilot, “Tell her she’s got to name it Kennedy.” The pilot then laughed as he replied: “Will do.”

The mother and newborn baby were then attended to by medical personnel after landing.
