Tony Popovic is relieved Bruno Fornaroli's expletive-laden verbal tirade towards Adelaide United coach Carl Veart hasn't cost the Melbourne Victory striker a suspension.
But the Victory coach was surprised Fornaroli was cited, and says increased vision of players swearing is a natural consequence of broadcasters looking for greater access.
In-form striker Fornaroli was issued a show cause notice for his spray towards Veart in the 70th minute of Saturday's 1-1 A-League Men draw.
Victory football director John Didulica worked to ensure the striker avoided a one-game ban, freeing him to play against Wellington at AAMI Park on Friday night.
FA confirmed the show cause notice was withdrawn after "it was determined that the MRP's jurisdiction was not appropriately enlivened".
"We obviously got a letter from the FA and we had to put in a submission in regard to Bruno in regard to something that happened on the field," Popovic said on Thursday.
"It was due to swearing or something, I'm not quite sure whether it was because it was caught on the microphone or because it just happens in general.
"So we had to answer to something there and we're very happy that it's cleared and he can play. That's the most important thing.
"I'm surprised that he got cited. That's clear. I think we all were. But we had to respect the process and we did that and JD (Didulica) did a great job and he's free to play.
"We're not happy we had to go through it but it's done and we move on and Bruno's free to play."
Fornaroli has scored six goals across the opening three games, but Popovic wouldn't be drawn on whether he would attempt to get the 36-year-old to cool his temper.
"We've got to be careful with that," he said.
"OK, I understand. We ask for reality TV. We want all this access to everything that people can feel what happens, whether it's on the field, off the field, in change rooms, in team meetings.
"Everyone wants to have an understanding of what really happens and no one wants any of that censored. It never is.
"And things that happen in a football match - it's emotion, passion. We don't want to change that."
Fornaroli and Phoenix counterpart Oskar Zawada are the stars of Friday's clash between second-placed Victory and third-placed Wellington.
Victory's defence could be decimated.
Captain Roderick Miranda is serving a one-match red card suspension, while Adama Traore (hamstring) will miss and Jason Geria (quad) is touch-and-go to return.
Traore's injury is far less severe than initially thought and he will push to be available after the international break.
