Victoria Beckham has revealed Mel C didn't want to wear anything "too fussy" for her wedding.
The Spice Girls star - full name Melanie Chisholm - married her partner Chris Dingwall in secret in Sydney, Australia before staging a lavish wedding in the UK on Saturday (18.07.26) and it was revealed Mel wore a dressed borrowed from Victoria for the first ceremony while the singer-turned-fashion designer created a bespoke gown for the second celebration in Cumbria.
Victoria has now revealed how Mel's style fit right in with her fashion brand's ethos, telling Vogue magazine: "Melanie is quite minimalist and didn’t want anything too fussy, conceptual or overly complicated – this is all very aligned with what I do."
The dress was an ivory-coloured satin slip embroidered with Lyon lace with a low back and Mel carried a Champagne satin clutch bag and matching heels.
Mel added: "There’s just something about her clothes … they have a real simplicity, especially the slip dresses. They’re really feminine, but in a way that feels comfortable, and very me ...
"Victoria wanted to make it much more personal to me. She found some gorgeous vintage lace, and everything was really delicately dyed to the perfect shade. It’s very flattering, open at the back ...
"My daughter [Scarlet] was at the first fitting, and she wanted a bit more drama in the length. The line from Scarlet has been: ‘It’s my wedding too!' ...
"Victoria was so excited about being able to do this for me, and having her and Scarlet there … every step of the way has been very specia. Plus, I just love her clothes."
The UK ceremony was attended by fellow Spice Girls Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner, but Victoria was unable to be there because she was in the US for the 2026 FIFA soccer world cup tournament.
According to the Mail On Sunday newspaper, Mel B was among those who gave speeches at the reception and her words brought some guests to tears.
A source told the publication: "Mel B gave a speech which got a lot of laughs, as well as some tears - it was really beautiful.
"Geri was there but there was no awkwardness between her and Mel B. It was a day for celebrating Mel and Chris's love for each other and that was all anyone wanted to do."
