Victor Wembanyama to ‘Disappear From the Media’ for Rest of NBA Offseason

Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama turned in a much better showing during his second taste of NBA Summer League action. Despite a loss for San Antonio, the No. 1 pick dropped 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks across 27 minutes on the floor.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Wembanyama admitted that he’s looking to lay low for most of the rest of the offseason after what’s been a hectic media-fueled month for the 19-year-old.

Per Justin Russo, Wembanyama indicated that he’s probably going to “disappear from the media” during the offseason, potentially to take a vacation and just enjoy life away from the sport before the NBA season kicks off in October.

“In the past month, I think basketball wasn't even 50% of my schedule. I can't stand it. I know it's a special moment in my life, but I'm glad it's over ... I just wanna hoop,” said Wembanyama, via Tomer Azarly

Having been considered arguably the most talented NBA prospect since LeBron James, it’s no surprise that there’s been plenty of attention directed toward Wembanyama.

Between the extensive draft coverage, various interviews and public appearances, and even a bizarre incident involving pop singer Britney Spears, Wembanyama indicated he’s ready to be out of the national spotlight for a while.
