Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the deployment of federal resources in Georgia following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. She highlighted the efforts made to provide essential supplies such as food, water, and generators to those affected by the hurricane.
During an interview with WSB-TV, Harris emphasized the presence of boots on the ground in Georgia to support the relief efforts. She mentioned the significant focus on ensuring that necessary resources reach individuals in need in the aftermath of the storm.
Later today, the vice president is scheduled to visit Augusta to assess the impact of the storm firsthand and receive briefings on the ground. Her visit aims to evaluate the response and recovery efforts in Georgia and acknowledge the federal assistance being extended across the Southeast region.
Harris revealed that she had recent discussions with Governor Brian Kemp and has been receiving regular updates from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She highlighted the importance of maintaining communication with state officials and staying informed about the ongoing relief operations.
“I have been in touch with the governor. I actually spoke with him. I’ve been getting regular briefings from FEMA,” Harris stated, underscoring the collaborative efforts between federal and state authorities to address the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
