Vic Reeves alter-ego gone as Jim Moir reveals doesn't speak much to Bob Mortimer

Jim Moir has revealed he has given up his comedy alter-ego Vic Reeves and says he doesn't speak much to former comedy colleague Bob Mortimer.

The British comedy legends were a double act, known for shows such as Shooting Stars which was a hit BBC TV show in the 90s, as well as Bang Bang, It's Reeves and Mortimer.

Jim shared that the TV duo don't speak to each other that much anymore and has given up his act as his alter ego. As reported in Birmingham Live, the comedy star said: “We’ve had offers from everywhere. But I’m not doing any more. I’ve given up. I’ve done that.

“We never really speak much. Bob and I have never been ones for talking on the phone. We’ll see him now and then and have a chat about things. It’s not a conscious thing, we haven’t discussed it.”

He added: “Viewers do tend to think, I offer, that the lives of on-screen couples are entwined

“People have always thought that with me and Bob. Do you go out in the evening? We always said no, we don’t. We see each other in the daytime, we film. We used to, when we were in our 20s, go out to the boozer, but we don’t really do that any more.

“I said I’ll do this one if it’s about painting and bird-watching and I’ll do it with Nancy. And they said yeah."

Two decades ago in 2003, the comedy duo, Reeves and Mortimer, were listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy. A couple years later in 2005, in a poll to find the Comedians' Comedian, Reeves and Mortimer were voted the ninth-greatest comedy act ever by fellow comedians and comedy insiders.

In 2017, Mortimer and Reeves starred in a relaunch and new singular episode of their comedy Big Night Out for the BBC. The show has been remade and subsequently renamed to Vic and Bob's Big Night Out.
