Special operations veterans who took the psychedelic ibogaine in a Stanford-led study largely kept their improvements in PTSD, depression, and anxiety a year later. The 12-month results appeared Aug. 12 in the journal Translational Psychiatry, and Stanford Medicine highlighted the findings on Oct. 6.
The study was small and had no comparison group. It cannot show that ibogaine alone caused the lasting improvement, and the drug carries known heart risks.
