Venezuela's opposition is preparing to relinquish its oversight of U.S.-based refiner Citgo Petroleum after seven years, as interim President Delcy Rodríguez's government moves to regain authority over one of Venezuela's most valuable foreign assets, Reuters reported.
The opposition-controlled supervisory boards could wind down as soon as September, two people involved in the preparations told the news agency. The shift follows Washington's recognition of Rodríguez's government after U.S. forces captured Nicolás Maduro in January, removing the basis for U.S. recognition of the opposition-appointed bodies that had overseen Citgo since 2019.
