Vedika emulates Raunak, Divya's international heroics, wins maiden Asian Schools chess gold in Sri Lanka

NAGPUR: Eight years after city youngsters turned Grandmasters Raunak Sadhwani, Divya Deshmukh and Sankalp Gupta started making their mark around the globe, nine-year-old chess prodigy Vedika Pal pocketed her maiden international gold medal in Sri Lanka.

The BVM, Civil Lines, student is now Asian Schools chess champion. In the nine-round classical tournament held at Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka, Vedika lived up to her billing and brought home her first yellow metal, that too after winning all the nine games she played in the five-day Asian event.
