Vanessa Feltz has thanked Alison Hammond and Holly Willoughby for their support following her split from Ben Ofoedu.
The TalkTV star was left heartbroken following her split from Ben after finding out on Christmas Day that he had been unfaithful. Vanessa, 61, was sent an anonymous Instagram message detailing an affair involving her partner of 16 years.
The media personality was left devastated following the betrayal and bravely took to social media to announce their split as she opened up about her heartbreak. In a new interview, Vanessa has thanked her two close pals and This Morning co-stars Holly and Alison for their support.
“I’ve known Alison for about 21 years, and Holly for 10 – it’s a long time,” she told OK! Magazine. “We’re proper friends in real life. It’s not just a TV thing, it’s a real thing. Both of those women are 100 percent there for me, and have been in various different circumstances.”
Detailing their support for her following her split, Vanessa said: "Without question, they’re among the first women I hear from. They’re great women and they’re great friends. What you see on TV is what they’re really like, and they’re very funny. They are excellent company and tremendous for a girls’ night out.”
After finding out about Ben's infidelity, Vanessa bravely took to Instagram to post a video announcing the split, saying, “I haven’t been on Instagram for three weeks, and that’s because my relationship with Ben is over after 16 years.
“I honestly didn’t know what to say, but now it’s clear that it’s over, and I really do feel that once the trust in a relationship is gone, you can’t really get it back.
“So I just wanted to say that obviously I feel incredibly sad and I am pretty disappointed and shocked and all those horrible things, but also full of resolve. I’m not going to let this defeat me.”
This comes after Alison was reportedly leaning on Holly for support following her split from Ben Hawkins. The new Great British Bake Off presenter reportedly split from her long term boyfriend, and seemingly confirmed it on This Morning in recent weeks.
A source told Closer magazine: "Alison is very good at putting on a brave face, but she really has been heartbroken by this agonising break-up." They said she has wanted to "hide under the covers" at times but has been motivated by work.
The source said: "She's (Holly) been helping to lift Alison's spirits by not only being there for her to talk to and a shoulder to lean on, but by instilling her with confidence and helping her focus on how many positive things she has in her life."
