Vanessa Feltz could 'hardly breathe' ahead of first date after Ben Ofoedu split

Vanessa Feltz admits she was "shocked to the core" when she set out to find love again.

The much-loved television presenter split from her cheating ex of 17 years, Ben Ofoedu, earlier this year and is on the hunt for love once more.

But things aren't easy for the 61-year-old who says she was "terrified" about heading out on dates again, especially on such a public platform.

Her admission comes just days after Celebs Go Dating love coach, Anna Williamson branded the broadcaster "brave" for being so open following her heartbreaking split after Ben admitted to cheating and sext-messaging another woman behind Vanessa's back.

Speaking to the Mirror at the TRIC Awards about her experience on the E4 show, she said: "Shock! Absolutely shocked to the core - terrified, shocked you know all that stuff. Also quite fun."

But while Vanessa may have already been on her first day, she admits it was "absolutely terrifying", adding: "I could hardly breathe, in fact, I still can’t… It's a big old deal, really nervous."

Despite heading out and meeting the mystery man, Vanessa was still not able to process what had happened, explaining: "[I was] in shock by the whole thing just shocked.

It was like, ‘What just happened?!’ I think I will get more into it as the weeks go by because it’s only the beginning now, we’ve got lots and lots more filming to do."

Although she may have been rather anxious, it appears love coaches Anna and Paul Brunson have won the bubbly star over as she branded them "marvellous".

She said: "I can’t believe how excellent they are, in fact, I saw them yesterday and everything I said I’m like ‘Yes! That is accurate. Yes, oh my God yes!’

"They’re really good and also no one can ever do it worse than I’ve done it so with their help I’ve gotta do it a bit better, don’t you think? At least I’m hoping so!"

Although Vanessa is now fully back on the dating scene, she doesn't think she's had closure from her 17-year relationship, explaining: "I think I’ve got a bit of a way before I get any closure. I don’t know about closure but it’s definitely a distraction. A good old distraction.”
