A VAN driver has been arrested following the death of an 85-year-old pedestrian in Dumfries and Galloway at the start of this year.
Police were called to Sheuchan Street near the junction with Park Lane in Stranraer at around 10.20am on Saturday, January 3, following a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van.
Emergency services attended the scene, and 85-year-old Margaret Joy Todd was taken to hospital, where she later died.
No one else was injured.
Police arrested the van driver on Tuesday, a 22-year-old man, who has been charged in connection with a road traffic offence following the fatal crash.
A spokesperson for the force said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
