'Vamos!' - Man City fans react to Julian Alvarez starting for Argentina in the World Cup final

Manchester City fans have expressed their delight that Blues striker Julian Alvarez has been named in Argentina's starting line-up for the World Cup final against France.

The 22-year-old will line up alongside Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi in attack for Lionel Scaloni's side, with the South American outfit aiming to lift the prestigious trophy for the third time in their history.

Alvarez has been in fine form at the tournament in Qatar - registering four goals and one assist for his country. The Blues attacker scored a brace in the semi-final triumph over Croatia as Argentina secured a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Scaloni's men progressed to the final after overcoming Croatia, the Netherlands and Australia in the knockout rounds, while France, who won the last World Cup in 2018, defeated Morocco, England and Poland.

Alvarez, who was named among the substitutes early in the competition, has started the previous four matches. Since arriving at City, the frontman has registered seven goals and two assists in 20 matches for Pep Guardiola's side.

City supporters were thrilled to see the 22-year-old named in the starting line-up against France. Here's how some Blues fans reacted to the news:

The World Cup final between Argentina and France kicks off at 3pm (UK time) on Sunday afternoon, with the showpiece event taking place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Meanwhile, City return to domestic action against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup next Thursday, but Alvarez will not feature in the match, given that it comes just four days after the final in the Middle East.
