Holidaymakers have been left frustrated and outraged after hundreds were texted by travel giant TUI that their trips had been cancelled after a gruelling wait at one of the UK's busiest airports. Families say after eight hours at Manchester Airport, they were messaged to say their flight and all-inclusive hotel were cancelled.
The troubled flight to Greece was supposed to take off at 3.45pm on Saturday but ticketholders looking forward to a half-term getaway say it took them a gruelling four hours to get through check-in and security, reports the MEN. Many would have missed the flight if it was on time but they never got in the air as another four-hour delay was followed by the abrupt cancellation.
"It's utter, utter chaos," one of the would-be passengers, Helen, told the MEN. "There has been hardly any staff here. Everyone got a text from TUI saying their holidays have been cancelled and to go home. The check-in girls knew nothing, we found out before they did. And they were left to deal with hundreds of passengers complaining, a full flight's worth.
