Uttar Pradesh: Muslim man in Mathura forced to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, case registered

AGRA: The Mathura police has booked a man and some unidentified people for allegedly hurting sentiments of a Muslim by abusing his community and forcing him to chant slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai in Farah area on Monday.

A video of the incident went viral viral on social media, prompting the police to register an FIR under IPC sections 295-A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage reli­gious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or reli­gious beliefs), 505 (2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) and Information technology section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) against Chandraveer and some unidentified men at Farah police station.

According to the FIR lodged by Mubeen (who has been identified with his first name) he was stopped by Chandraveer while he was heading to Dharampura to collect fodder. Mubeen alleged that Chandraveer used indecent language against his community and thrashed him. "Chandraveer made a video of hurting sentiments of muslim community and had uploaded it on social media," he alleged in his complaint.

The purported video which went viral on social media— shows a Muslim man with a skull cap and beard is being asked to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai.." Three other persons are also visible in the video.

Station house officer R K Singh said that the FIR has been registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Mubeen. The authenticity of the video will be checked and further investigations are on.
