LUCKNOW: Working towards enhancing the income of farmers of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has planned to establish them as 'entrepreneurs'. This will not only increase their income but also provide more employment opportunities.
With the help of the state government's Food Processing Industries Policy 2017 (revised), the government has planned to set up 375 large food processing units. Besides, 41,336 food processing units will be established/upgraded under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme.
Under this, the government provides assistance to farmers to start work in the food processing industry. Apart from focusing on increasing the income of the farmers, the Yogi government has set a target to provide at least one employment opportunity to every family in the next five years.
By connecting farmers to the industry, the government wants farmers to get a good price for their crops.
As a result, crop damage instances will go down and a good price of the product will be available in the market.
Moreover, the government aims to provide training to 2,10,000 entrepreneurs and farmers in the next five years.
