LUCKNOW: Chandrapal (55) of Daudnagar had to stand in a long queue for more than 2.5 hours for his turn to vote at a polling station in Ghazipur Balram of Lucknow North constituency.
In between his wait, he had to sit down on the pavement a few times because of exhaustion as there was no boundary wall covering the polling station and voters had to stand in long queues without any shade. Despite assurance by the district administration, facilities promised at the polling stations were not up to the mark at some places.
In fact, the minimum assured facility of drinking water supply was also not ensured at many places. Personnel posted at the polling station also complained about the absence of proper washrooms at the centres.
Rysa Bano (68) had to return from Lucknow Model Inter College at Campbell Road as she was not provided wheelchair. The pink booth at Krishnanagar did not have wheelchair, ramp or water facility.
A senior citizen, who came to vote at Dayanand College in Mahanagar on a wheelchair, faced difficulty in voting as her booth was on the first floor.
