Uttar Pradesh: Clerics seek action against offenders of communal violence from PM Modi, question bulldozers without probe

LUCKNOW: Clerics associated with the Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Hind (MuH) have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take cognisance of communal incidents flaring up against minorities across the country and take action against culprits.

The national level body of clerics also sought Supreme Court's (SC) intervention on the questionable use of bulldozers in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Madhya Pradesh (MP) sans any investigation.

The clerics have said that there are growing instances of communal violence against minorities, like the ones in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone and other Indian state and punitive action should be taken against offenders.

Strict action should be taken against those making inciteful communal speeches in the country, leading to such incidents of clashes, MuH said.

"Action should be taken against those in MP and other parts of the country who have created a season of strife and communal flare ups. But innocent people should not be heckled in the process," said MuH general secretary Maulana Kalbe Jawad.

"We are against communal agents and they should be dealt with strictly irrespective of their religion. But the use of bulldozers against innocent people without conducting any probe is grossly anti-constitutional. The SC should intervene in the matter," said MuH president Maulana Syed Husain Mehdi Husaini.
