Utah Seals Win Over USC With Walk-Off Field Goal

Utah escaped Saturday night’s game vs. USC with a 34–32 win as the Utes kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Utah kicker Cole Becker was the team’s hero on Saturday night after he made the 38-yard field goal attempt to seal the win. The crowd was in shock as the ball went through the uprights at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

This was USC’s second loss in a row after they dropped a tough battle against rival Notre Dame last weekend. The No. 18 Trojans moved to 6–2 on the season.

The critical Pac-12 matchup between two teams that entered with a loss apiece remained close until the second half when Utah came charging and took a 28–14 lead.

The Trojans clawed their way back when the No. 14 Utes led by five points with about two minutes left of the game, causing USC to respond on the team’s last drive by scoring a touchdown to go up 32–31.

But it wasn’t enough as the Utes embarked on a game-winning drive that looked doomed to fail until backup quarterback Bryson Barnes scrambled for 26 yards to get the ball in the red zone with just five seconds remaining, which set up the game-winning kick.

Utah moved to 6–1 with the win to stay in the College Football Playoff Race while effectively eliminating USC and will return home for next week’s marquee matchup against No. 9 Oregon.
