Some Venezuelan migrants will be allowed to enter the U.S. and stay legally for up to two years, the Biden administration announced Wednesday.
Venezuelans who cross the Mexican border without authorization, however, will be turned back.
The program, which will be capped at 24,000 migrants, is similar to one implemented for Ukrainians after the Russian invasion, officials said. Each migrant will need a sponsor in the U.S. who guarantees to support the person financially. After their applications are approved, they would fly here.
