US Senator tries to inspect a heavily damaged Middle East air base. Then he finds out who ordered the blackout: ‘unprecedented’

Senator Chris Murphy hit a major roadblock in the Persian Gulf this week after the Pentagon blocked him from visiting a critical military site, as reported by Common Dreams. The Connecticut senator was looking to inspect Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which serves as the primary hub for American operations in the region.

It turns out that the facility suffered significant damage from Iranian missiles during the early stages of the current conflict, including a direct hit to the Combined Air Operations Center. Murphy is now calling out the Pentagon for what he describes as a calculated attempt to keep these details away from Congress and the public.
