Indian-American voters could play a consequential role in closely contested races in the November 3 US midterm elections, with their electoral influence depending less on their numbers nationally than on where they are concentrated and whether candidates can secure their support.
The United States has approximately 2.6 million eligible Indian-American voters, according to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. While a relatively small constituency nationally, their presence in states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Texas and New Jersey could matter in competitive contests, particularly where narrow margins leave little room for error.
