A Labour peer has called on the government to impose sanctions on the United States, labelling it a "gangster state" following its conduct in Venezuela.
Lord Sikka contended that Washington's actions contravene the UN charter, which explicitly mandates members to refrain from "the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state".
