An urgent warning has been issued about a gas cooker sold in Ireland which can cause extremely dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to be produced.
A safety issue has been identified on certain Glen Dimplex Home Appliance Ltd Manufactured Cookers with Gas Grills.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission said: “The products present a risk to health and death if the grill is used with the door closed.
“Using the cookers with the grill door closed can cause extremely dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to be produced, which can pose a significant risk to health and death.”

The alert affects Glen Dimplex Home Appliance Ltd manufactured Belling, Stoves and New World Gas Range Cookers with Gas Grill (110, 100 and 90 models) (2205-0240).
The impacted products would have been purchased at any time between 2010 and 2022.
The CCPC says there are approximately 20 affected units in the Republic of Ireland.
Glen Dimplex believes that these products were purchased through the following retailers in the north and then brought into the south: Armagh Electrical, Jamisons Gas Centre, Reillys of Enniskillen, Hardys of Kilkeel, Andys Stores, Basil Knipe Electrics, Slaons Gas Energy Centre, Vision Sales, Doanghy Brothers.
The firm has written to those who bought an affected cooker with a safety notice to remind them to use the grill with the grill door fully open, in accordance with the instruction manual.
The gas oven and hob are unaffected by this safety warning.
