The Arizona Cardinals have more salary cap space. They got rid of their largest cap hit in receiver DeAndre Hopkins when they announced his release on Friday.
The move saved the Cardinals more than $19 million in actual money, as they no longer must pay his salary.
But it doesn’t save them that much in salary cap numbers.
His release saves the Cardinals about $8 million.
So where do the Cardinals stand in cap space now?
According to Over the Cap, the Cardinals now have about $24.4 million, the fourth-most in the league.
They have 89 players on the roster currently.
With more than $24.4 million, they can certainly go out and add a quality player, but nothing about the offseason suggests that will be the plan, at least for now.
