Urinary tract infections are found in up to 7% of infants who have a fever, making them one of the most common bacterial infections in babies and young children, HealthDay reported on the American Academy of Pediatrics' new guidance. The AAP's updated clinical practice guideline was published in the journal Pediatrics.
The guideline covers children from 8 days to 5 years old, a much wider range than the academy's 2011 guideline, which focused on children ages 2 to 24 months.
