LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government will constitute a Pilibhit Tiger Conservation Foundation for better management and development of the tiger reserve.
The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The foundation has got the approval from the central government.
The objective of the foundation will be to help in conservation of tigers and biodiversity of the reserve as per the tiger conservation plan approved for the reserve.
It will also develop coordination between different stakeholders for the conservation of the reserve.
It will function as a society.
It will work to promote cultural, social and economic development in the reserve and its neighbouring area; conserve the natural environment in the reserve and nearby area; promote ecotourism and seek help from an executing agency in management of the reserve.
An executive committee will monitor the day-to-day functioning of the foundation.
The income earned through ecotourism in the reserve, fee levied on different services and assistance from national and international agencies will constitute the fund.
