LUCKNOW: The bus stations in Uttar Pradesh should be developed keeping in mind that operation of electric buses will increase in future and that will require charging points at the stations, said chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra while reviewing the plan to develop bus stations in the state on PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode on Monday.
In the first phase, 24 bus stations in 16 districts will be developed under the plan. In the second phase, 24 bus stations in 24 districts and under the third phase, 35 bus stations in 35 districts have been selected for development and beautification on PPP mode.
The terminals will have airport-like facilities, like screening, air conditioning, CCTVs, security check, toilets, rest rooms for crew , food plaza , waiting halls for passengers, besides having connectivity with the existing metro and airports wherever possible.
Under the plan, world class bus terminals will be developed at Gomtinagar, Charbagh and Amausi in Lucknow in the first phase. The other districts where bus terminals will be developed in the first phase are Ghaziabad (where three bus terminals have been selected), Agra (three bus terminals selected), Prayagraj (two terminals selected), Ayodhya (two terminals selected) and one bus terminal each in Mathura, Kanpur city, Varanasi, Meerut, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Bareilly, Raebareli and Mirzapur.
