BAREILLY: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for killing an 8-year-old boy, whom he attempted to allegedly sodomise on Sunday in a village in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri district.
Fearing that he would be caught, he murdered the child and threw the body in a well. A murder case has been registered and IPC section 377 (unnatural offences) has also been added, police said.
The minor, who lived with his maternal grandfather, had gone to a crop field to collect fodder for cattle, but did not return. Police discovered that the victim was seen with Krishna Kumar when he had gone to get berries from a tree in Kumar's house. Thereafter, police picked Kumar and questioned him.
During interrogation, Kumar confessed to murdering the boy, after trying to sodomise him. Kumar told police that he feared that the boy would inform others about the incident and therefore, he killed him and "dumped the body in a well during midnight and returned home."
