NEW DELHI: Luka Modric will not participate in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final match between Real Madrid and Mallorca on Thursday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, due to illness.
"Our player Luka Modric is out of the game against Mallorca today because of a viral illness," Real Madrid announced in their official statement.
The 39-year-old Croatian midfielder recently achieved a milestone by becoming Real Madrid's oldest goalscorer with his strike against Valencia in La Liga last week.
Barcelona have already secured their spot in Sunday's final in Jeddah after defeating Athletic Bilbao in Wednesday's semi-final encounter.
