A woman doing her weekly laundry got the shock of her life when she looked into a launderette washing machine and found a six-foot python staring back at her.
The giant snake - which weighed 44 lbs (22kg) - was curled up in the machine's drum in the southern Malaysian state of Johor on Saturday, 1st October.
The horrified customer told the manager who called emergency services for help.
Images released by the emergency services show firefighters extracting the snake from the machine.
Deputy Fire Chief I, Suhaimi Mohd. Jamal told local media: "According to the operation commander, Senior Fire Superintendent II, KUP Mohd. Ali Matt, they found a six-foot python weighing 20 kilogrammes inside one of the washing machines in the shop."
He added: "Members at the location caught the snake using a snare and released it in an area far from civilian settlements."
The snake was reportedly released back into the wild after being captured without further incident.
Meanwhile, a small UK town was left shocked yesterday after a large snake was spotted swimming in a canal.
The grass snake was spotted in Shropshire Union Canal, which runs through Llangollen, Denbighshire in Wales, earlier this week.
Some residents were left shocked following the sighting, with a few taking to social media, Wales Online reports.
“Bloody hell, I would have s*** myself if I saw one of those," one person said.
A second added: "I would have died!!"
Grass snakes are non-venomous and rarely reach longer than six feet in length. Snakes are regularly seen around the canal in Llangollen, with many preferring to live on riverbanks and in ponds and ditches.
Of course, being close to water allows the reptiles easy access to their favourite prey – frogs, toads, and small fish.
