Glasgow is renowned for its warm welcomes and the good people of Maryhill certainly proved that for the visit of Princess Diana and Prince Charles in March 1983.
The royal couple dropped in at the community hall in Maryhill Road on March 4, 1983, to view projects financed by the Prince's Trust that had been set up to improve the lives of unemployed young people in the area - and they were treated to a rousing reception.
Locals cheered for the People's Princess and chanted "we want Charles" as the pair walked into the red sandstone building.

It was also a day to cherish for youngster Judith Anne Williams. Not only was the little girl celebrating her fifth birthday, but she was given the honour of presenting Diana with a bouquet of flowers in front of the assembled press.
Inside the building, the royals were entertained by the Garthamlock Youth Theatre, who were on hand to perform a rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy, and met members of the Bishopbriggs Spina Bifida Fencing Club. Prince Charles also had a shot at practising resuscitation with a medical dummy.
