A SCOTTISH university has been mocked for a dodgy map which shrunk a Hebridean island to half its actual size.
The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) was mocked for a campus map it posted on Twitter which appeared to show an etiolated Tiree off Scotland’s west coast.
Islanders were not impressed, with one commenting: “Love your map - but what happened to Tiree in it?”
Another added: “Anyone thinking of studying at [UHI] please don’t [be] put off by this shambles of an attempt to get a map of the (yes I can’t believe it either) HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS correct.
Anyone thinking of studying at @ThinkUHI please don’t but put off by this shambles of an attempt to get a map of the (yes I can’t believe it either) HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS correct. Where is Tiree?? https://t.co/z15tjyw6zJ

“Where is Tiree?”
But the university doubled down, reposting the image with a drawing of an arrow pointing to tiny Tiree.
They responded: “We just wanted to reassure you that Tiree is indeed on our map.
“We appreciate it might be difficult to spot when looking on a screen, so we've popped a wee arrow showing where it is. As an #UHIAlumni, we hope this puts your concerns to rest and thanks for your feedback!”
Unfortunately, they still hadn't got it quite right.
"This is hilarious. That’s not Tiree! Is anyone [at UHI] checking these maps???" one user wrote.
