
The suspect in the killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO could potentially face the death penalty if found guilty of the federal murder charge against him. According to prosecutors, the suspect, Luigi Mangione, is charged with one federal count of using a firearm to commit murder.
This charge carries a maximum potential sentence of death or life in prison, as stated by the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. In addition to the murder charge, Mangione is also facing stalking and firearms offenses.
