NEW DELHI: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is well known for his vast English vocabulary and prudence in choice of words.
But Union minister Ramdas Athawale, with an image of a son-of-the-soil, corrected his English on Twitter.
Tweeting a video grab of the finance minister’s speech, with Athawale seated behind her with what looks like an expression of shock, Tharoor said, “Nearly two-hour rely to the Bydget debate. The stunned & incredulous ex-pression on Minister @RamdasAthawale's face says it all: even the Treasury benches can't believe FinMin @nsitharaman's claims about the economy & her Budget!”
No sooner, Athavale corrected the typos in Tharoor’s tweet.
“Dear Shashi Tharoor ji, they say one is bound to make mistakes while making unnecessary claims and statements. It’s not ‘Bydget’ but BUDGET. Also, not rely but ‘reply’! Well, we understand!”
The Athawale comeback went viral.
