- James Desborough, 40, is due to be sentenced for the murders of two homeless men, Claudio Aquilino, 57, and Daniel Coleman, 43, whose dismembered bodies were discovered in woodland in Cornwall in 2025.
- Desborough is already serving a life sentence after he strangled his 65-year-old prison cellmate, Steven Kempster, at HMP Exeter while on remand awaiting trial for the double murder.
- Now classified as a serial killer , Desborough committed three murders in separate incidents over five months; the two homeless men were last seen alive in his company before their disappearances, after which he spent their money on drugs and alcohol.
- Devon and Cornwall Police are continuing inquiries into the unexpected deaths of four other individuals who were living at Sandy Lodge Hotel, a homeless accommodation in Newquay, at the same time as Desborough.
- Desborough resided at Sandy Lodge Hotel between December 2024 and April 2025, during which two men and two women died; police have stated he is not currently a suspect in these four deaths, but further forensic work and statements are being reviewed.
