Once known as the 'heaviest man alive' at 610 kg, Khalid Bin Mohsen Shaari lost an unbelievable 542 kg to pen an iconic weight loss story that will be remembered for long. Bedridden for three years due to his excess weight, Shaari at 63 kg looks unrecognizable having shed a massive amount of weight, and receiving a new moniker 'the smiling man' from his support staff who helped him achieve this seemingly impossible feat.
Shaari's remarkable weight loss story couldn't have been possible without the intervention of Saudi Arabia's former King Abdullah who was determined to transform Shaari's life and funded his full weight loss plan that included extensive medical care. A dedicated team of 30 medical professionals worked on Shaari's fitness feat and he was transported from his home in Jazan, Saudi Arabia to King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh for his treatment.
