Unauthorized absence of employee for one year three months is grave misconduct and dismissal is suitable penalty, says Karnataka HC

BENGALURU: Unauthorized absence of an employee for a long period of one year and three months is a grave misconduct for which dismissal from service is a suitable penalty, the Karnataka high court has observed in a recent judgement.

Dismissing the writ appeal filed by one Manjunatha, a driver-cum-conductor working with state run Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation ( KSRTC), a division bench headed by Justice Alok Aradhe has also added that the penalty imposed upon the appellant cannot be termed as disproportionate.
