Ulrika Jonsson has shared her sympathy for Helen Skelton over her split from her husband after giving birth, saying that she "knows how she feels".
The Countryfile presenter, 38, was left devastated earlier this month after her husband Richard Myler left their home just four months after she gave birth.
Helen had been with her husband for eight years and the pair share three children together - four-month-old Elsie Kate, Louis (four) and six-year-old Ernie.
It was recently reported by The Sun that Richie has "started a romance" with a new woman just weeks after the split.
Speaking about the situation, Ulrika said that she was "truly sad" to hear about the break-up and that she had been in the same position herself.
Writing in her column for The Sun, she said: "When you’re left holding the baby, either through a decision of your own or someone else’s, when the life you had pictured comes to a halt and the future couldn’t be further from certain, it’s hard not to crumble."
She admitted that one of the phrases she hated when she was in a similar position was being told that she would get over it and that she was "strong".
Ulrika added: "Just because people have shown doggedness, resolve and tenacity in the past, it doesn’t mean they don’t need a bloody big hug and to be told that it’s fine if they need a cry or can’t cope.
"Even the strongest people need space to buckle and yield."
It comes after Helen was seen talking on the phone near her home in Leeds with her hand no longer sporting a wedding ring.
Helen previously shared the news of her separation from Richie on Instagram and wrote: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home.
"We will be doing our best to co parent our small children."
