Ukraine Russia Invasion: Everything we know from day 13 of fighting

Russian forces have reportedly disrupted evacuation corridors for a third successive day as shelling and gun-fire were reported in major cities.

According to the Ukrainian Government, President Vladimir Putin's forces have breached their own ceasefire agreements in humanitarian corridors from Mariupol and Sumy.

This is the third consecutive day Russian forces have broken the ceasefire.

Shelling and small-arms fire were reported throughout the day, although it's likely some civilians were able to successfully flee, according to the Ministry of Defence.

Civilians forced to remain in Russian controlled cities continue to suffer from power shortages and a lack of food and water. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported a six-year-old girl died of dehydration.

A number of companies including McDonalds and Starbucks have now suspended their operations in Russia after they faced growing pressure on social media.

A girl, six, has died from dehydration "alone, weak, frightened, thirsty" in Ukraine's besieged city of Mariupol after spending days with no water, power, or heating supplies.

Last week Russian forces cornered the port city with constant airstrikes, leaving residents without energy and water, with no way to evacuate.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the child's death this morning in a video address and officials later said her name was Tanya.

"In 2022, from dehydration," he said, likening the humanitarian crisis linked to Russian bombardment of Ukrainian cities to that created by the Nazi invasion during World War Two.

Zelensky addresses House of Commons

The Ukrainian president addressed in the UK House of Commons about the invasion by Russia.

Starting and ending with a standing ovation from British MPs, President Zelensky spoke about the war so far on a day-by-day basis, and said Ukraine would continue to fight and would not give up.

He also repeated his calls for a no-fly zone over his country and presses the West for more sanctions on Russia.

The UK will phase out imports of Russian oil in response to Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine by the end of the year, the Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has confirmed today.

The phasing out of imports will not be immediate, but instead allows the UK more than enough time to adjust supply chains, supporting industry and consumers.

The government will work with companies through a new Taskforce on Oil to support them to make use of this period in finding alternative supplies.

The import of Russian oil makes up 44% of Russian exports and 17% of federal government revenue through taxation – this move steps up the international pressure on Russia’s economy.

US President Joe Biden has also confirmed a complete US ban on Russian oil, gas and coal imports in a move designed to deal a "powerful blow" to Putin

A statement from Coca-Cola says: "Our hearts are with the people who are enduring unconscionable effects from these tragic events in Ukraine."

Automakers Ferrari and Lamborghini also said they will not produce vehicles for the Russian market until further notice.
